May 2023 - Typhoon Mawar hit Guam with winds in excess of 140 mph and record rainfall, leaving the island devastated. Thousands of residents were without water and power for more than two weeks, and the recovery effort required urgent airlift support. FEMA response teams and third-party contractors needed to transport personnel, supplies and equipment to clear roadways and rebuild critical infrastructure.
Solution
Momentum contracted Boeing 747-400 aircraft to transport the massive loads and equipment. Ground operations teams traveled with the cargo, handling the preparation of all documentation, supervised pallet construction, security screening, and oversaw aircraft loading and unloading in Guam. Momentum’s close coordination ensured the timely and efficient transport of essential equipment, supporting Guam’s recovery and rebuilding efforts.
