As the world continues to struggle with the ongoing need for the procurement and transport of personal protective equipment in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, sourcing the airlift to move the cargo has become an overwhelming piece of the puzzle for many governments and state organizations. Over the course of the past month, anticipating the problem, Momentum has taken steps to think outside the box and convert a number of passenger aircraft to cargo to close the gap for its clients.

Yesterday evening, May 15th, Momentum took a step further and converted the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus 380, to assist the Government of the Dominican Republic in transporting 45,000 kgs / 286 cbm of urgently needed PPE supplies from TSN (Tianjin, China) to SDQ (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic). This flight signifies the first ever landing of an A380 in the Dominican Republic, and the flight time of approximately 18 hours is among the longest cargo flight routes to be currently operated non-stop.
